5.2.18 AC ELA Brown Learning Target and Opening I will show my understanding of my extended text by discussing topics with the class.

Opening- Get into your groups and finish your assessment from Friday. You will have 15 minutes. Socratic Seminar Teacher will give you a question.

Answer the question on your own paper. Be prepared to discuss. Make changes to your answer.

Socratic Seminar Rules Be respectful of your classmates. One person speaks at a time. Do not talk when

someone is sharing. You must participate to get a grade. Question One In chapter 8 there are now

two leaders. What does each represent in the story? Question Two What is significant about the title of this chapter,

''Gift for the Darkness?'' Question Three Summarize the discussion between Simon and Lord of the Flies? Is Lord of the Flies talking to Simon or is it a

figment of Simons imagination or is it something more Question Four Why is Simons death symbolically a great tragedy for all the Simons

of this world? Question Five In chapter nine, the violence of Jacks group starts to increase. Compare the barbarism in this chapter to the barbarism of previous chapters. How has it increased? What are the
